Film Sound Design

My approach to sound design is rooted in collaboration, with every film project created alongside my partner, filmmaker and artist Anna-Maria Bazian. Together, we focus primarily on the craft of sound design itself, combining foley, field recordings, and original music to build immersive sonic environments that deepen the emotional and visual impact of each story. Our goal is not only to support the picture, but to expand its atmosphere and meaning through sound.

YIVETTE

“YIVETTE” is a short student film by Anna-Maria Bazian exploring an inner journey of fear, confrontation, and transformation. The sound design is highly experimental, translating video art into sound through abstract textures and immersive atmospheres that reflect the character’s psychological state. The film was screened at ARFF and the Eastern Europe Film Festival.

Below The Surface

Below the Surface is a final student film from Bezalel Academy, directed by Ido Moshe and Hila Frenkel. The work explores a metaphorical journey from darkness into light, confronting inner struggles that are not always visible on the surface.

Our sound design approach focused on building an emotional, multi-layered world, combining precise dubbing, delicate foley textures, original music, and rich sound layers. Every sonic element was crafted to heighten the cinematic experience and emphasize the film’s themes of transformation, resilience, and renewed hope.

Where Are You, Dear General?

Where Are You, Dear General?, directed by Lia Ginat and Gaia Broude, takes place on the tense border between North and South Korea, following a North Korean soldier whose small act of curiosity sparks questions of truth, authority, and imagined boundaries. Our sound design focused on curating authentic audio references from North Korea and blending them with crafted synth-based layers, shaping a sonic environment that mirrors both the rigidity of the regime and the soldier’s shifting inner world. The film was officially selected for the Haifa International Film Festival and also won an award at the Tel Aviv Women’s Film Festival.

Fucking War

Fucking War, directed by Ohad Manor, is a provocative short set over one charged night in Jerusalem, where intimacy and conflict collide. Our work on the film centered on building an unsettling sonic landscape - from detailed sound design to an original techno track that amplifies both the grotesque tension and the fragile moments of vulnerability. The sound became a driving force in shaping the atmosphere, pushing the story’s contrasts of power, fear, and desire to their extremes.
